Tomato Fertilizer - Should I use a slow release AND liquid fertilizer?
This year I added some slow release fertilizer (specifically made for tomatoes and vegetables) to the top 1 - 3 inches of the soil. Is this all I need to do for fertilzer this summer - or should I water with a liquid fertlizer occassionally as well?
FYI - I am growing the tomatoes in containers
i am a professional in this field, and as a professional i am telling u - it is better underfertilize than overfertilize. if u overfertilize u may kill a plant - when soil becomes too concentrated with chemicals plant starts giving water to the soil (it is called diffusion - balancing - water always goes towards more concentrated solution) instead of taking it from the soil. so if u put already solid slow release fertilizer u should let your plants bee. especially if they grow not in open soil but in containers. otherwise your plant would die of dehidration no matter how much u will water it - it will just not take any water from soil. and i hope u put exact amount of fertilizer. good luck
