Anointing Essential

Rosalina (Melaleuca ericifolia)is also in the myrtle family (Myrtaceae) and comes from Australia. This is a relatively new essential oil from northern New South Wales. There is a good balance in this oil between alcohols, oxides and mono-and sesquiterpenes. The prevailing molecule is linalol making this oil a very good anti-infectious and especially antibacterial oil. This is a good choice oil for children especially when dealing with ear, nose and throat infections. Traditionally this oil has been used in similar ways to Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree oil).

Today we would use Rosalina for its powerful antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti-parasitic and anti-inflammatory actions. It is used for Herpes virus, respiratory and sinus infections. It is a better choice for children's infections especially infections of the ear, nose and throat. Since it is high in linalol (an alcohol) which is soothing to the nerves and has calming effects-even sleep inducing, therefore it should be used in the evening or before going to sleep.

To use Rosalina essential oil, it can be diluted one part essential oil to one part mixing oil or used neat (undiluted) on the body-temples, wrists, throat, face or chest. Rosalina can be directly inhaled, diffused or taken as a dietary supplement. This is an exceptionally gentle oil even when applied neat on the skin.
