The United States Mint has seen tremendous success with it's coin program that honors America's first spouses through the issue of 1/2-ounce $10 gold coins that feature the likeness of each spouse along with other important information. The Gold First Spouse Coins will be released on approximately the same schedule as the $1 Presidential Coins that are currently in production. Each coin will be released in the order in which each spouse served their term, or terms. At present time, all of the First Spouses have so far been women.

The obverse of the Gold First Spouse Coin displays a portrait of each of our country's first spouses, along with the name of each spouse, the dates of each term that they served and the year that the gold coin was released. The phrases "Liberty" and "In God We Trust," are also proudly displayed.

The reverse of the coins display the inscriptions "The United States of America" "E Pluribus Unum" "1/2 oz." "$10" and ".9999 Fine Gold." Each of the coins also exhibits a unique and different reverse display that features a portrait of events that were important to the like and history of the spouse who is featured.

On the occasion that one of the President's served in office without the company of a first spouse, a gold coin is then released that features an image on the coin's obverse that would be representative of a Liberty design as it would have been depicted on a coin that was in circulation in the time period that the President served his term. The reverse image on these coins will depict events or a theme representative of that President. The coins would be issued in cases where Presidents such as Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren served in office without a First Spouse.

The Gold First Spouse Coins will see release at varying times throughout the calendar year. They are to be issued one at a time, spaced in increments of every few months. The release of each coin will be preceded by an official announcement by the Mint, usually a number of weeks prior to the actual period that the coins are offered for sale.

The Coins are set to be scheduled for release through to 2016.

The coins are strictly limited in release, available from the Mint for one year only. As the popularity of these beautiful coins continues to soar, investor and collector demand is sure to grow.
