Someone I know has been getting very good result with ThreeLac, but it costs him about $3 a day, so he needs recommendation of a good acidophilus product in his candida treatment. Ideally, the product should have some sort of enteric coating or resistance to stomach acid, so it makes it into the small intestine. He has tried Culturelle, but it also seems a bit pricey and didn't work that well for him. Ideally, he would also like acidophilus that didn't require refrigeration. The Optiflora from Shaklee is wonderful, but looks like it has FOS, which he had problems with acidophilus that has added sugar, FOS, or maltadextrin. He also sees that Tums has dextrose in it, and was wondering what to take for an antacid. His stomach burns from taking so much Excedrin during the day for his sinus headaches.

In fact, I read somewhere recently that antacids are really bad for candida sufferers, as they decrease the amount of stomach acid, which is needed to break down food adequately. Less acid, more junk for the yeast to feed on. Can you try some other, more natural ways of dealing with the headache than taking pain relief medications? You might try using DGL (de-glycerrhizinated licorice). It lowers stomach acid a bit and is supposed to support the mucous lining in the stomach. I use it when my stomach starts gnawing, and it helps a bit.
