Best essential oil ratio: lavender and vanilla?
I'm making some all natural massage oils and body scrubs for a friend. I'm using essential oils for the scent. This friend requested a combination of vanilla and lavender. I'm new to this: any suggestions for best combination, i.e. what's the best ratio of lavender to vanilla?
You get to choose -- that's the beauty of making your own blends.
Vanilla is said to be an aphrodisiac. It is a base note. The fragrance will linger on the skin and still be noticeable for several hours.
Lavender is calming, anti-spasmodic and healing to raw, burned or itchy skin. It is very volatile and will evaporate quickly. It will be the fragrance you notice first when opening a container but after a short time the fragrance disappears.
If I were mixing, I'd do a small amount of 50/50 in maybe 1/4 cup of salt - let it sit overnight, then try it out to see if I wanted it different.
