Is it true that if you don't take fish oil (Omega 3, with DHA and EPA) while pregnant your baby will be stupid?

I'm 17 weeks pregnant and my mother keeps telling me that I need to take this specific fish oil or my baby will be stupid. I understand that fish oil helps with memory and brain functioning...as well as other things...but is it true that baby's born without their mothers taking fish oil (with omega 3 and DHA/EPA) will be stupid?

Sounds like another silly old wives tale to me. If it was a necessity, your doctor would have prescribed it, just like prenatal vitamins. If you want to get your mother off your back about it, try talking to your doctor and get HER take on it.
