This is one question you just cannot afford NOT to ask yourself.And you need to ask it FIRST. Before you go ahead and make your own products and they turn out to be nothing but a massive strain on your finances, time and resources.

Really, to answer this essential Product Development question you need to first of all ask yourself 5 simple questions about the product you are thinking of creating:

1. Does it Help Solve A Problem?

The most important thing you need to know before you make your own products is if they will help the buyer to avoid PAIN, to achieve HAPPINESS or if they will ENTERTAIN him/her.

2. Is There A Market For My Product And Can I Reach It?

Run a Google search. If you find other similar products, you can be pretty sure that there's a market out there waiting for YOU to make your own products - the same only different!!

An even bigger sign that there's a market there for your product is if there are publications relating to it. Go into your local newsagents or book store and check it out!

3. How Much Money Will This Product Creation take?

You need to know how much money it will cost you to make your own products. You don't want to waste your time on Product Development if your products are not EXCELLENT! They need to set you apart, put you in a different league. You want to be head-and-shoulders above the competition. This may involve more initial outlay, so take time to count the cost.

4. How Can I Package and Present?

Always look at ways to adapt your delivery methods and VERSIONS of what you are selling. Offer pro versions, taster versions, full audio, video training manuals, offer re-sale rights, membership sites etc

One good idea can multiply and be offered to many different groups of people!

5. Can I adapt the system?

Ask yourself how you can make your product or service BETTER, how you can reach a larger or more TARGETED number of people. How can you make it more AFFORDABLE? If you don't have time to manage it, can you AUTOMATE it?

If one of your concepts isn't viable right now - don't worry. Things can change. Just keep a record of your idea and wait until the answer to all these questions is YES!!
